In most cases, yes. That orange is iron from well water, and it bonds to the surface — pressure alone won't budge it. We apply a rust-removal treatment made for exactly this, and it dissolves the stain instead of just wetting it.
There's moss growing on my roof. Should I worry?
It's worth dealing with. Moss holds moisture against the shingles and can lift their edges over time. We soft wash it — no scraping, no high pressure — so the moss and algae die off and the roof sheds them without damage.
